Founded in 2013 by August Detering and Ryan Smith, 97th Street Pictures is a production company that places authentic vision and original craft first and foremost.

97th Street Pictures was created with the goal to tell imaginative, adventurous stories developed in the city that inspired them, Seattle. Recognized for such early projects as Infected, Thunder Man &; Wonder Boy, and Cracked Pavement, focus has always been placed on unique stories and original cinematography. Continued growth in these areas is foreseen with an exciting slate of developmental projects and newly released works, 260 On a Tuesday Night and Floor 15.

97th Street Pictures is ardent about their support for Seattle and continue to make a presence in local business commercial projects. Strong believers in the talent and potential of their city, they seek promote the growing film community, offering summer lessons to youth passionate about the world of cinema.

August Detering
Director, Producer, Writer - Class of 2018, NYU Tisch School of Film

Currently attending NYU Tisch School of the Arts (Class of 2018) studying film production. He has directed, shot and edited a variety of creative films since 2008. His films have been featured in the Beverly Hills Film Festival (2017), nominated for a PrimeTime Emmy (2012) and have been selected for the prestigious NYU Tisch School of the Arts Showcase (2016). He is responsible for all aspects of film production including; producing, directing, screen writing, art & sound direction, technical editing and promotion.

Ryan Smith
Producer, Director of Operations - Class of 2018, USC Film Business

Currently attending USC (Class of 2018) studying film business. Ryan has worked in front of camera as well as in film production. He works at the production company Anonymous Content and completed a high profile internship at the Producers Guild of America in Los Angeles, CA.
